166 criminals killed in police encounter in 5 years, government’s policy of zero tolerance against crime said CM Yogi Adityanath

Yogi Adityanath said that his government is following the policy of zero tolerance against crime and criminals.

After Yogi Adityanath became the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, the round of encounter started in the state. Highlighting this, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday said that 166 criminals have been killed in police action in the last 5 years, while more than 4453 criminals have been injured. Yogi Adityanath said that his government is following the policy of zero tolerance against criminals and crime.

Speaking on the occasion of Police Commemoration Day in Lucknow on Friday, Chief Minister Yogi also appreciated the contribution of brave policemen in maintaining the rule of law in the state. Yogi said, “From March 20, 2017 to October 13, 2022, a total of 166 criminals were killed by police personnel in self-defence, while 4,453 were injured. In this action 13 police personnel were martyred and 1,362 were injured. 58,648 criminals were booked under the Gangster Act, while 807 were booked under the National Security Act.

Chief Minister Yogi said that the properties of criminals worth more than Rs 4,400 crore have been seized or destroyed. Yogi Adityanath said that schools for girls and houses for the poor are being built on such properties.

Yogi Adityanath said, “The rule of law is ensuring peaceful celebration of every festival and safe environment for women, weaker sections, traders and common man.” During this, CM Yogi assured the families of the deceased policemen that the government, as usual, will take all necessary steps with utmost sensitivity for their welfare and to meet all their needs. CM Yogi also announced Rs 500 motorcycle allowance for police personnel and Rs 2,000 per year SIM card allowance for those on field duty. CM Yogi said that during the Kovid epidemic, 45 policemen died due to the virus. “Their families have been given jobs and Rs 22.50 crore as per rules,” he said. A statement by the UP government said that Rs 37 lakh has been paid so far to the families of policemen who died of Kovid.
