After Karnataka victory, Kharge now engaged in mission Rajasthan, will meet Gehlot and Pilot
According to Congress party sources, this meeting is an attempt to bring all the leaders on the same page ahead of the Rajasthan assembly elections.
After registering a historic victory in the Karnataka Assembly elections, the Congress will now focus on resolving the issue of Ashok Gehlot and Sachin Pilot. Before the assembly elections in Rajasthan are to be held later this year, the party is trying to bring about a reconciliation between Gehlot and Pilot. Sachin Pilot has opened a front against Ashok Gehlot for the last few days. He had also taken out a Jan Sangharsh Yatra. The dispute between the two leaders has been going on for a long time.
Meanwhile, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has called a meeting tomorrow (May 26, 2023), which will be attended by Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot, former deputy CM Sachin Pilot and PCC committee chief Govind Singh Dotasara. According to experts, the party will discuss the issues of Rajasthan in the meeting, but its priority will be to bring about a reconciliation between the two leaders as the party will not want their estrangement to have any impact on the Rajasthan elections and it will have to bear the brunt of it.
Other prominent leaders of the state will also attend the meeting. According to party sources, this meeting is an attempt to bring all the leaders on one page ahead of the Rajasthan assembly elections. Other issues to be discussed in the meeting include the government’s performance, a survey report on ministers and legislators, major election issues, announcements of candidates and a formula to deal with factions. AICC in-charge SS Randhawa said that the meeting is in connection with the preparations for the assembly elections, it is not specifically related to any personal issue.
Randhawa has been very vocal on the Sachin Pilot issue, talking to the media in Delhi, he said, “For me only Gehlot and Pilot are not the leaders in the state. We have other leaders too. I am talking about every leader.” On the other hand, Congress MLA and Punjab state party chief Harish Chaudhary said that Sachin Pilot has not given any ultimatum, but he wants to talk to the party high command and his priority is to establish coordination between the government and the public.
Sachin Pilot is demanding an inquiry into the paper leak case, due to which he has opened a front against his own government. Harish Chowdhary said that if his demands are not met, he will agitate in the entire state. He said, “His stand on this issue was always clear inside and outside the assembly that injustice should not be done to the students at any cost. There should be no injustice to the youth of Rajasthan. There is unemployment in the country. We should raise our voice against them.” Chowdhary also claimed that the Rajasthan government and the Congress party have zero tolerance towards corruption and action is taken against whoever is involved in corruption.
