Ambati Rayudu will not play in America’s Major League Cricket, the franchise of Chennai Super Kings informed

Former India batsman Ambati Rayudu has pulled out of the first season of Major League Cricket (MLC) in the US due to personal reasons. Soon after announcing his retirement from IPL in June, Rayudu was signed by CSK’s affiliate franchise Texas Super Kings. The franchise itself has given the latest information to Rayudu. The development comes at a time when the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is considering a cooling off period for Indian players to prevent them from opting for pre-determined retirement.

Active Indian players are barred from playing in foreign leagues, but retired players are allowed. “Ambati Rayudu will not be available to participate in the first season of MLC with Texas Super Kings due to personal reasons,” Texas Super Kings said in a statement. Major League Cricket will be played in America from 13 to 30 July. IPL franchises Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) CSK and Mumbai Indians (MI) are the teams in the tournament.

Major League Cricket on Friday informed that the first edition of the tournament will be broadcast on Viacom18’s sports network in India. The multi-platform coverage will include live streaming on JioCinema and television coverage on Sports18. The first match of the league will be played on 13 July.
