Was helping the duck to cross the road
An eyewitness said, “He was saying oh how cute it is. It’s great for him and then all of a sudden he gets hit by a car.” The eyewitness further said, “I did not see that the car actually hit him. I only remember the sound and then he had collapsed at the intersection. Her shoes and one of her stockings were right in front of our car.”
“He helped them cross the road because all the little ducklings were having trouble and then he walked in front of our car,” said eyewitness William. An eyewitness and her children erected a makeshift memorial at the scene and her son brought rubber ducks to pay tribute to the unidentified man, reports the UK Mirror.
Man died on the spot after being hit by a car
A man stopped his car at a red light and got out to help her when he saw a mother duck trying to get her chicks across a busy intersection in California. He ensured that traffic was stopped in all directions. Eyewitnesses told that he then took the duck and her chicks to the other side of the road. The man was walking back to his car when another vehicle came through the intersection and hit him. He flew into the air and fell on the road. The 41-year-old father of two children died at the scene.
Aunt of the deceased raising funds for the family
The dead man’s aunt, Tracy Rivara, set up a GoFundMe page to try to raise money for his widow, 11-year-old daughter and 6-year-old son. As of Tuesday afternoon, nearly $90,000 had been raised. The deceased’s aunt wrote that the family is trying to figure out how to get over this huge loss and keep moving forward.
Rocklin Police Capt. Scott Horrillo said, “We are still interviewing witnesses and reviewing video but it does not appear that the teen driver will face charges. At the moment, we have no reason to believe that there has been any criminal negligence.” He termed it as a tragic accident.
