An American woman staying at an ashram is gang-raped in Kerala

An out-of-town woman is raped. The victim arrived in Kerala on July 22. A 44-year-old American woman was gang-raped in Kollam, Kerala. After luring the woman, the two accused took her with them to another location, where she was repeatedly raped. Police arrested two people in connection with the incident. The police investigated the case and stated that the American had come to India to travel. He had taken refuge in an ashram in Kalyan. The police registered a case in this regard at Karunagappally police station under sections 376D (gang rape) and 376 (2) (n) (repeated rape of the same woman) of the International Penal Code.

According to the police investigation, the arrest process is ongoing. The accused were arrested on Tuesday. According to a PTI report, on July 31, the woman was sitting alone on a beach near the ashram. At that time, two accused approached her smoking a cigarette. The American refused to smoke. In the course of the conversation, the woman befriended them and the defendants agreed to offer her alcohol.
According to the police, the alcohol was mixed with intoxicants and the woman lost consciousness after drinking it. The accused then dragged the woman to a nearby house and repeatedly raped her. After regaining consciousness, the woman went to the police one night in August and filed a complaint. The accused were later arrested.
