Andhra Pradesh: Announcing the global summit to be held on March 3 and 4, the chief minister said, “Here I am inviting you to Visakhapatnam, which is going to be our capital in days to come.”

Andhra Pradesh New Capital: Visakhapatnam will be the new capital of Andhra Pradesh. Announcing this, Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy said that he would transfer his term there. In the year 2015, Amaravati was declared the capital of Andhra Pradesh. Subsequently, it was planned to have three capital cities in the state in 2020. These include Kurnool, Amaravati and Visakhapatnam.

Chief Minister announced

Announcing the global summit to be held on March 3 and 4, the chief minister said, “Here I am inviting you to Visakhapatnam, which is going to be our capital in days to come.” He further said that in the coming months I myself will shift to Visakhapatnam. After the separation of Telangana in 2014, Hyderabad was the capital of both the states for some time.

In 2015, the Andhra government, working under the leadership of N Chandrababu Naidu, announced that Amaravati, located on the banks of the Krishna River, would be the new capital. After this, in 2020, the state plans to make three capital cities. That law was later withdrawn and Amaravati formally remained the capital.

Amravati has been the center of land scam

Amaravati has also been the center of an alleged land scam. CM Reddy’s party YSRCP has demanded an inquiry against former Chief Minister Naidu in this matter. The YSRCP alleges that some people had bought land in Amaravati to take undue advantage. They were informed in advance about the location of the new capital. The state government told the Center that in 2014 more than 4,000 acres of land had been bought by such people.

While denying any such wrongdoing, N Chandrababu Naidu questioned why the land originally taken from farmers was being sold by the YSRCP government to build the new capital. A few months back, the Leader of the Opposition had found fault with the AP Capital Region Development Authority’s decision to lease out residential towers built exclusively for government employees to private entities.

Visakhapatnam is the largest and most populous city of Andhra Pradesh. It is the second largest city on the east coast of India after Chennai, the capital of Tamil Nadu.
