Steve Smith scored only 22 runs in the first innings of his 100th Test match, but managed to register a big Ashes record.
Australia’s dashing batsman Steve Smith is playing the 100th Test match of his Test cricket career against England. The third match of the Ashes Test Series 2023 is being played in Leeds and this is a historic match in Smith’s Test career. In the first innings of this match, Steve Smith’s bat did not work against England and he was caught out by Stuart Broad after scoring 22 runs in just 31 balls with one six and one four. Steve Smith’s catch in this match was caught by Johnny Bairstow off Broad. Although Smith did not score many runs in the first innings, but he managed to break the big record of his team’s former senior batsman Allan Border.

Steve Smith scored 22 runs in the first innings of the Leeds Test match to become the third highest run-getter in Ashes history. Earlier, Allan Border was at number three and now he has slipped to number four. In fact, Smith now has 3226 runs in the Ashes Test, while Border scored 3222 runs during his Test cricket career. The highest run-scorer in Ashes Test history was Don Bradman with 5028 runs while Jess Hobbs is second with 3636 runs.
