England fast bowler Stuart Broad joined an exclusive club of Test bowlers like Muttaira Muralitharan and Shane Warne by taking his 600th wicket on Wednesday. Broad had 598 wickets in his name before the fourth Test cricket match of Ashes 2023 against Australia. He dismissed Australian opener Usman Khawaja lbw in the morning session. He took his 600th wicket immediately after the tea break by getting Travis Head caught by Joe Root.
Broad is the fifth bowler in the world to achieve the feat. Now his eyes will be on breaking Anil Kumble’s record. His fellow England fast bowler James Anderson is third in the list with 688 wickets. Sri Lankan spinner Muttiah Muralitharan continues to top the list with 800 wickets. He is followed by Australian legend Shane Warne (708). India’s Anil Kumble (619) is at the fourth position in this list.

Broad is the player with the most number of matches to achieve this feat among these five bowlers. He completed this 600 wickets in the 166th match. Stuart Broad also holds the record for taking the most wickets in Tests against Australia for England. He broke the legendary Ian Botham record. Botham has 148 wickets. Bob Willis took 128 wickets, James Anderson 115 and Wilfred Rhodes 109 wickets.
