FIR lodged against teachers
Organizations alleged that Muslim teachers are doing the work of hurting Hindu sentiments. After the video of prayer went viral, investigation has been started by registering a case against the accused teachers. At present, the police have registered the case. However, no arrest has been made so far.
A government school principal and an education friend in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, have been booked for hurting religious sentiments after a video of students reciting Muhammad Iqbal’s poem ‘Lab pe aati hai dua’ during morning prayer went viral. Has been recorded. The education department has also suspended school principal Nahid Siddiqui and ordered an inquiry against Shiksha Mitra Waziruddin.
However, principal Nahid Siddiqui says she was not at school when the incident happened as she had gone on leave since December 12. The government school in Bareilly where the incident took place has 265 students enrolled in classes 1 to 8.
VHP office bearer had complained
An FIR was registered against Siddiqui and Waziruddin at the Faridpur police station on a complaint lodged by Sompal Singh Rathore, a local Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) functionary. In the complaint, it was alleged that students in the government school were made to recite religious prayers for religious conversion.
BSA ordered an inquiry
Bareilly’s Basic Shiksha Adhikari (BSA) Vinay Kumar said, “A prayer was being recited that said something like, ‘Allah Ibadat Karna’. This is not the prescribed prayer so the principal of the school, Nahid Siddiqui, has been suspended. I have also ordered an inquiry against Shiksha Mitra.”
