Bihar Politics: Why does BJP want to unite uncle-nephew? This is the advantage of NDA by coming together with Paras and Chirag
The BJP is making constant efforts that Chirag Paswan and his uncle MP Pashupati Paras unite and enter the election fray.
The BJP is preparing to find land in Bihar before the 2024 Lok Sabha elections and the entire focus of the party is on making a dent in Nitish Kumar’s vote bank. In such a situation, a very important strategy of the party is to reduce the rift between its long-time ally Janshakti Party. The BJP is making constant efforts that Chirag Paswan and his uncle MP Pashupati Paras unite and enter the election fray. NDA will directly benefit from this. But at the moment it doesn’t seem to be happening. MP Pashupati Paras has refused to reconcile with nephew Chirag Paswan. Along with this, it has also been announced to contest the Lok Sabha elections from Hajipur seat itself.
Why does BJP want to strengthen LJP?
The BJP is also eyeing to unite the big leaders of the Lok Janshakti Party and other caste groups because the BJP wants to be ready to challenge Nitish Kumar’s powerful vote bank Luv-Kush (alliance of Kurmi and Koiri castes).
Finding itself in a quandary after last year’s sudden split with chief minister and Janata Dal (United) chief Nitish Kumar, the BJP has slowly but steadily tried to bring allies on board. While walking out of the NDA alliance, Nitish Kumar had taken all the other parties along with him in Bihar and due to this the BJP had to face a lot of difficulties.
Different efforts of BJP in search of land
Samrat Chaudhary is currently the President of Bihar BJP, he is a Kushwaha leader, making him the President of Bihar BJP is a big plan of BJP to shift the votes of Extremely Backward Classes from JDU to BJP.
The Kurmi and Koeri castes, which largely comprise landowning farmers and vegetable growers, who together account for about 10 per cent of Bihar’s population, are believed to have traditionally favored Nitish Kumar.
By projecting a Kushwaha leader as the chief ministerial face for the next assembly polls to be held immediately after next year’s general elections, the BJP is trying to cut a core voter base from the Grand Alliance ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha polls. The invitation to Rashtriya Lok Samata Party’s Upendra Singh Kushwaha for the big NDA meeting to be held in Delhi tomorrow is another step to reduce Nitish Kumar’s influence.
