BJP MLA did not feast on mother’s thirteenth, said if Muslims did not worship Lakshmi-Saraswati, would they not be scholars and billionaires?

Lalan Paswan had joined BJP from RJD in 2015. They consider the feast on the thirteenth as a wrong practice. At the same time, BJP said that this is Paswan’s own vision.

In Bihar, a BJP MLA has given a statement regarding the worship of Hindu deities, due to which a controversy has arisen. BJP MLA Lalan Paswan said that Muslims do not worship Saraswati, are they not scholars? In fact, the BJP MLA did not organize a banquet on his mother’s thirteenth, the journalists asked him a question.

BJP MLA from Pirpainti Lalan Paswan was talking to reporters and during this time the journalists asked him a question on why he did not organize a “Mrityu Bhoj” (13th day feast) for the mother. Responding to this question, Lalan Paswan said in a video message, “It is believed that Saraswati is the goddess of learning. Muslims do not worship them, but are they not wise? Don’t they become IAS and IPS officers? It is believed that Lakshmi is the goddess of wealth. Muslims don’t worship them, but aren’t they millionaires and billionaires? Lord Bajrangbali is the god of power. Muslims and Christians don’t worship him, isn’t America a superpower? It’s all about faith.”

Lalan Paswan termed the ritual of the feast as “kuriti” (wrong practice). Lalan Paswan further said, “It is all about your faith. There is a soul and God as long as you believe in it. Once you start reasoning and your ideas are scientific, you start asking questions logically.”

On the other hand, BJP MLA Paswan also stood by his statement on Wednesday. He said, “One must understand the context in which I have made this statement. I am not against religion but I have spoken only of scientific thought processes and rationality.”

On the other hand, BJP National General Secretary of OBC Morcha Nikhil Anand while talking to The Indian Express on Lalan Paswan’s statement said, “Paswan wanted to express his perspective on the 13th day ritual of mass banquet after the death of his mother. Arya Samaj and many other beliefs among Hindus also do not organize these 13th day rituals. While answering the question asked on this, we as an MLA understand his sentiments. He must have said something else to explain his decision to others.”

The Indian Express, quoting BJP sources, said that Paswan, a first-time MLA, is preparing the ground to quit the BJP as the social alliance may now be in favor of the Grand Alliance. Paswan had switched to BJP from RJD in 2015. He successfully contested the 2020 elections as a BJP candidate.
