Blog: Rahul’s growing stature has increased BJP’s headache
In the unity meeting of the opposition parties held in Patna on June 23, former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav told Rahul Gandhi in a double-edged dialogue that ‘you get married, the entire opposition procession will run’. Now, the tallest leader of the ruling party and the Home Minister of India, Amit Shah told a public forum in a rally in Rajasthan that ‘If Rahul Baba becomes the Prime Minister…. Whom will you choose Rahul Baba or Narendra Modi.
Before the ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ of the Congress, Rahul Gandhi’s image has become such in his eyes that even a small leader of the BJP used to honor Rahul Gandhi with such adjectives that he was being compared to Prime Minister Narendra Modi? What happened, why did this happen, why this thing has started revolving in the mind of the ruling party of the country today. The truth is that it is said that when the fear of something sits in someone’s mind, then the same thing is seen and heard in front of him while sleeping and waking up, morning and evening.
The fear sitting in the brain is visible all the time.
Today, it is not possible for everyone to reach the height at which the image and stature of Rahul Gandhi has emerged in the country. Now it has become clear that even the Home Minister, who is called Chanakya of the ruling BJP, has started accepting that Rahul Gandhi will be the face of the opposition in the Prime Minister’s claim next year in front of the present Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The bet of the ruling party backfired!
It may be a dice thrown by the home minister, who is called modern Chanakya, that if Rahul Gandhi’s name is tossed for the claim of the post of Prime Minister, then there will be a rift in the opposition, the unity of the opposition parties will sour, Which may help some in breaking them. But, it seems that this bet backfired for the ruling party, because after this speech of the Home Minister, the opposition started saying loudly that now even the Home Minister has accepted that his leader’s stature is equal to that of the Prime Minister.
Then the common voter, who would be the youth of the modern age, their choice is Rahul Gandhi. In fact, only a BJP leader said that Rahul Gandhi’s ghost had already haunted the BJP through the ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’, but after his program in the American tour and the question-and-answer session of journalists, there has been an uproar in the BJP. Whether it is office or any meeting from morning to evening, the policy is decided by making Rahul Gandhi the main point of discussion. He said that today the ruling party wants in every way to tarnish the image of Rahul Gandhi by reducing his rising stature in one way or the other.
Water constantly tries to remain at the same level, the basic nature of human being is also like this. There are many stories of the unity of the opposition parties, knowing that the BJP is happy that how fruitful the effort of this unity will be; Because there will be a split in them on one or the other issue and the benefit of which is going to be given to their party, so criticize it in one way or the other, break its unity. In 1996, under the leadership of Narasimha Rao, the Congress suffered a crushing defeat and the party could win only 141 out of 545 seats. BJP won 161 seats.
President Shankar Dayal Sharma administered the oath of office to BJP’s Atal Bihari Vajpayee as Prime Minister. There was a lot of ruckus on this and the opposition asked the government to prove its majority. Atal Bihari Vajpayee failed to prove his majority. After this Janata Dal, Left Front and Congress together formed a new alliance. When the question arose about the face of the Prime Minister, the first name of VP Singh came, but in 1990 Singh, who suffered a political injury, did not accept to become the PM with the support of the Congress. Left party vetoed the name of Jyoti Basu. In the years 1977, 1989, 1996, 2009, and 2019, the exercise of forming a large-scale opposition front was started, but each time it disintegrated before materializing.
Actually, after the removal of emergency in 1977, Indira Gandhi had announced to hold elections. After his announcement, all the opposition leaders were taken out of jail. After coming out of jail, Jai Prakash Narayan in a mass meeting had advocated for joining the opposition with the help of this announcement. This strategy of JP was considered successful at that time. Then on June 23, a first major meeting was held in JP’s land and Bihar’s capital Patna regarding opposition unity. The aim of the parties involved in Mahajutan is to overthrow the power of the Center.
Over the years, there have been more than five attempts to forge opposition unity in the country, but only twice with partial success. Political parties like JDU, TMC, Uddhav faction’s Shiv Sena, SP and RLD have limited influence only in their respective states. That is, their role in helping allies win in other states will not be significant. In such a situation, the question arises whether the regional parties will be ready to distribute seats in their state? What will be the formula of seats, so that the opposition unity remains intact. Through this meeting of opposition unity, efforts will be made to show unity in at least 450 seats out of 543 seats. In this, the focus is going to be on 80 seats in UP, 40 in Bihar, 42 in Bengal, 48 in Maharashtra, 7 in Delhi, 13 in Punjab and 14 in Jharkhand.
Responding to all these arguments, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge had said that the next meeting on the same subject, which was earlier to be held in Shimla, will now be held in Bengaluru on June 13-14 to decide who will contest from where. The fear of the ruling BJP is that if this effort of unity of the opposition parties is successful, then what will happen? Therefore, now only break this unity in one way or the other, talk in such a way, give such a message that a doubt remains in the mind of all the leaders involved in unity as well as in the mind of the public that if they vote for the candidates standing by the opposition party If they do, then their vote will be lost; Because it is not known when the head-to-head fighting starts in the government formed by the leaders of different faiths and the government collapses and then they have to go to the elections.
The result of all these thinking is this statement of the Home Minister, in which he wanted to know from the common people in the rally that who should be made the Prime Minister between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Rahul Gandhi. By the way, Mahapandit Acharya Chanakya had said that whosoever causes trouble or becomes an obstacle in the way, put whey in its root and destroy it completely. Probably adopting this principle, the present central government has also started working in Maharashtra and Bihar.
That’s why in Maharashtra, Ajit Pawar was separated from Sharad Pawar and included in the state government, and on the other hand, in Bihar, Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav and Lalu Prasad Yadav opened a file on Rabri Devi giving jobs in exchange of land in the railways, putting whey in the root of opposition unity. started. Whatever be the case, this type of talk will continue to happen till the elections, they will keep taking sarcasm at each other, but the one who will win the voter’s mind, he will become the next Prime Minister of the country.
At present, both sides of the scale are still equal, because the people of the country have seen the activities and development of the present government twice in a row, but this time the mood of the youth, especially the youth who have voted for the first time, has changed and they are determined to adopt new thinking. The new youth should be given an opportunity to take this country forward.
But, there is still some time left for the elections and like a Test match, five state assembly elections are yet to be held. The public will target the Lok Sabha elections 2024 with the results of these elections. It has to be seen as to how much he can attract the common voters with his words and promises and connect them with him.
