Uniform Civil Code: Preparations for Uniform Civil Code have intensified in Uttarakhand. The drafting committee has prepared the draft regarding UCC. Today there is a meeting of Pushkar Singh Dhami cabinet. It is believed that UCC can be approved in the meeting. After the election, CM Pushkar Singh Dhami’s government was formed, then he formed an expert committee regarding UCC.
Over 2.31 Lakh Suggestions
The drafting committee had informed about the preparation of the draft recently. Retired Justice Ranjana Prakash Desai said that since the formation of the Draft Committee, more than 2.31 lakh suggestions were received on the matter. He told that more than 20 thousand people were spoken orally for UCC. The committee also constituted a sub-committee to look into every aspect of the UCC. The Draft Committee held several meetings from the border village Mana to Delhi. People from political parties, social organizations and religious organizations were also discussed in these meetings. Their suggestions have also been incorporated in the draft.
These big changes will happen from UCC
In the draft prepared regarding UCC in Uttarakhand, cases ranging from marriage to divorce have been included. According to sources, according to this draft, registration of marriage will be mandatory, halala and iddat will be banned and it will be necessary to give details of live-in relationship. Not only this, things regarding population control have also been included in this draft.
What is included in the UCC draft of Uttarakhand?
In Uttarakhand, it may now be necessary to give a declaration to live in a live-in. This information will also be given to the parents. Apart from this, the age limit of girls for marriage will also be increased. Registration of marriage will be made necessary in any case. If the couple has not registered, then they will not get the benefit of government schemes. For this, the facility of marriage registration will be given at the village level. Both husband and wife will be given equal grounds for divorce. This means that the ground of divorce will be applicable to both husband and wife.
Polygamy or polygamy will be banned. Not only this, Halala and Iddat have also been included in this draft. This has been banned in the draft. In the draft UCC, it has been said to give equal share to boys in succession to girls. The government is going to make the guardianship process easier for orphans. After a fight between husband and wife, the grandparents have been told about the custody of the children. At the same time, the process of child adoption will also be simplified.
Dhami met PM Modi and Amit Shah
Recently, CM Pushkar Singh Dhami met Home Minister Amit Shah and PM Narendra Modi in Delhi. Justice Ranjana Desai, Chairperson of the Drafting Committee was also present in this meeting. After the meeting, CM Dhami said that there will be no delay regarding UCC but it will not be implemented in haste.
