Retired Justice Ranjana Prakash Desai said that since the formation of the Draft Committee, more than 2.31 lakh suggestions were received on the matter. He told that more than 20 thousand people were spoken orally for UCC. The committee also constituted a sub-committee to look into every aspect of the UCC. The Draft Committee held several meetings from the border village Mana to Delhi. People from political parties, social organizations and religious organizations were also discussed in these meetings. Their suggestions have also been incorporated in the draft.

In the draft prepared regarding UCC in Uttarakhand, cases ranging from marriage to divorce have been included. According to sources, according to this draft, registration of marriage will be mandatory, halala and iddat will be banned and it will be necessary to give details of live-in relationship. Not only this, things regarding population control have also been included in this draft.

What is included in the UCC draft of Uttarakhand?

After the meeting, CM Dhami said that there will be no delay regarding UCC but it will not be implemented in haste.
