A 14-year-old student studying in Jhunjhunu Kendriya Vidyalaya, Rajasthan, sat on a dharna against the homework given during the holidays. This student named Pranjal, studying in class 9, staged a sit-in in front of the collectorate from 10 am to 12 noon on Sunday, 14 May. Pranjal’s mother has given her support in this dharna against holiday homework.

Pranjal says that vacation is necessary for a healthy life. Vacation leads to physical, mental health development. Recess is very important for children so that children can play. You can also join in your interest. According to the report published in Bhaskar.com, Pranjal says that if we do homework even during the holidays, then there is no holiday for us in 365 days of the year. Holiday homework is an evil practice, it is a stigma on childhood.

Pranjal’s mother Anamika was also present on the dharna with him. He said that I am with the child in this protest. For one year this child has been making his demands by writing letters. Pranjal’s mother has said that as earlier there was a bad practice that children study well when they are beaten, after that now the law has come on this. Similarly, this is also a bad practice, in which homework is given to the children during the holidays, just as adults need a holiday, similarly children also need a holiday.
Keeping his views, Pranjal said that people associated with educational institutions have negative ideology. Be it vacation or school time, they just want to see the child studying. Parents also want the same, due to which children are not able to enjoy their holidays properly. This is the reason why tension increases in them. The cases of suicide are also increasing due to this reason.
