The round of allegations and counter-allegations is going on between the central government and the Delhi government regarding the floods in Delhi. Now Raj Niwas sources alleging against Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal that the CM has not called the mandatory meeting of flood control for the last two years.
The level of Yamuna has started rising again in Delhi. Earlier, the lower part of Delhi was completely submerged in water. Delhi’s Kejriwal government sought help from the army and NDRF from the central government. Relief rescue work is going on in the flood affected areas. The Kejriwal government has blamed the Haryana government for the floods in Delhi. Delhi government minister Saurabh Bhardwaj said that the Khattar government of Haryana deliberately increased the water level of the Yamuna river by releasing water from the Hathini Kund barrage to defame the Delhi government.
Now the sources of Raj Niwas have accused the Delhi Government that Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has not convened the meeting of the Apex Committee on Flood Control and Preparedness even once in two years. The same Aam Aadmi Party government, while denying these allegations of Raj Niwas, said that keeping in view the flood preparedness, a meeting was called on May 9 under the chairmanship of Delhi government ministers Atishi and Saurabh Bhardwaj. The Delhi government said that after the meeting, guidelines were issued regarding flood control.
Rajnivas made allegations?
Sources in Raj Niwas claimed that the instructions issued by the Kejriwal government were half-hearted. According to sources, the chief minister of Delhi is the chairman of the apex committee to review, recommend, supervise and coordinate flood control measures in Delhi Capital Region. Last month, the chief minister did not give permission for the mandatory meeting of the flood committee to be held at the end of June. While the file in this regard was sent to the Chief Minister on June 19 itself. Sources said that for the last two years, Arvind Kejriwal is not allowing the flood control meeting to take place.
Who are the committee members?
The high-level meeting, chaired by the Chief Minister of Delhi, includes all ministers of the Delhi government, MPs from Delhi, four MLAs from the Aam Aadmi Party and the Chief Secretary of Delhi along with members of the Delhi Development Authority, GOC of the Indian Army and the Central Water Commission. . It is mandatory to call a high level meeting on flood control every year just before the onset of monsoon. After assessing the rains and floods, preparations are reviewed, but due to not calling the meeting this year, preparations could not be made for the floods.
Refuting the allegations, the AAP government said that Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had missed the meeting due to official work, but had instructed Irrigation and Flood Control Minister Saurabh Bhardwaj and Public Works Department Minister Atishi to attend the meeting. Preside and on May 9, Saurabh Bhardwaj and Atishi jointly presided over the meeting. On the other hand, sources in Raj Niwas told that representatives of CWC were not called in the meeting chaired by Atishi, besides the Chief Secretary, Commissioner of Police, MCD Commissioner, CEO of Delhi Jal Board were not called in the meeting.
