Delhiites paid Rs 1,113 crore as house tax

Delhiites have proved that they have faith in Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

In-charge of Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Durgesh Pathak claimed in a press conference on Monday that in the last three months, Delhiites have deposited house tax breaking records. During this period Rs 1113 crore was deposited as house tax. This had never happened before in the history of MCD till date.

Pathak said that during the BJP rule, Rs 539 crore was collected in the financial year 2021-22 and Rs 695 crore in the year 2022-23 with an increase of only Rs 100 crore. In just three months, Delhiites have proved that they have faith in Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

He claimed that in the next 3-4 years, MCD will not have to depend on anyone for the budget like Delhi government and MCD will also be in profit. After the AAP government came to power in the MCD, after the appointment of the mayor in April, the highest amount of Rs 1,113 crore was collected as house tax in just three months. There has been an increase of about Rs 400 crore as compared to the BJP rule.

Durgesh Pathak alleged that the BJP ruled the MCD for the last 15 years. During this time there was such a situation of corruption that the trees which are pruned all over Delhi. It requires hardly 20-25 machines. But the MCD did not have the money to buy those machines. The employees did not get salary for several months.

There were no medicines in the hospitals, there was no treatment. There was corruption everywhere during the BJP rule. But you have proved in three months that if work is done honestly then the public also trusts.
