Deoghar: Bhole Baba’s darshan in Vaidyanath Dham will not be expensive, government withdraws decision on opposition of pandas
The government withdrew the decision after the Panda Dharmarakshani Sabha opposed the increase in the fee for early viewing.
The increase in fee for Baba Baidyanath Shivling of Deoghar has stopped after the intervention of Chief Minister Hemant Soren. DC Manju Bhajantri has withdrawn her decision. Panda Dharmarakshani Sabha is against it. And its General Secretary Kartik Nath Thakur opposed it by writing a letter to the Chief Minister and the Chief Secretary. and demanded immediate intervention. Kartik Nath Thakur points out that DC’s decision to double the speedy viewing fee was one-sided, which was being opposed.
Baba Baidyanath Shivling is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas. It is also called Kamna Linga. According to the Puranas, it was established by Ravana himself. Since 2010, the district administration had imposed a fee on the devotees in the name of early darshan. According to which Rs 250 is for normal days and Rs 500 during special days. Apart from this, the devotees who want to do darshan-puja without cutting the coupon can do so by standing in the normal queue.
This fee was being doubled i.e. 500 and 1000 rupees. The Deputy Commissioner had decided to implement it from May 31. In this regard, two days ago the DC also inspected the arrangement here. It is told that on normal days about five thousand devotees come for quick darshan. This number increases manifold in the month of Sawan. And the darshan facility is closed for VIPs.
Every year in Sawan, there is an influx of lakhs of kanwariyas here for one month to perform Jalabhishek of kanwariyas. This year Sawan is two months. Purushottam is the month. That is, from the first week of July till 31st August, a crowd of kanwariyas is expected to gather here. Kanwariyas from Sultanganj in Bhagalpur district fill Gangajal and perform Jalabhishek by walking 100 kilometers to Babadham.
The DC wanted to increase the fee for early darshan from 31st May. This is the charge of Pandas. Although there is no special facility for the devotees in the temple. Rather, weary visitors are welcomed by the cane of the police. Social worker Sanjay Bhardwaj says so. And it’s true too. Police excesses are at their peak here.
