Elon Musk has announced to step down as CEO of Twitter. Announcing Twitter’s new CEO without naming her, she said that she would start work in 6 weeks. Musk will now serve as executive chairman and chief technology officer of Twitter.
Twitter’s new CEO will be a woman
Informing about his decision to step down, Twitter CEO Elon Musk said on Thursday that he has found a new chief executive for Twitter. Though he did not name the person, he hinted that the new CEO of Twitter would be a woman. Here, the Wall Street Journal reported that Elon Musk had held talks with Comcast NBCUniversal executive Linda Yaccarino for the position.
Musk said in a tweet, “Excited to announce that I have hired a new CEO for X/Twitter. She will start work in 6 weeks.” Musk said he would take on the role of chief technology officer of the social media platform in the next few weeks. He said that after this he will run Twitter’s software and server team.
The Wall Street Journal reported that Linda Yacarino is in talks to take on the role of CEO of Twitter. Yacarino has praised Musk in the past, and their shared appearances at ad agency events fueled the speculation. According to a Bloomberg report, after taking over as CEO of Twitter in October 2022, Elon Musk said in December that he would step down as soon as a new person is found.
Will be able to do voice and video chat on Twitter
Earlier on May 11, Elon Musk had informed about the launch of encrypted messaging on Twitter. In a tweet, he said, “Early version of encrypted direct message just launched. Give it a try, but don’t count on it just yet.” The business tycoon on Wednesday announced that users can give a direct reply to any message in a thread with emojis. Apart from this, for better communication, Twitter is going to introduce voice and video chat on its platform in the coming days.
