The former captain of Team India praises the players, but raises questions without any hesitation on making mistakes. Be it Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar or Virat Kohli, Gavaskar never hesitated to point out a flaw in his batting.
Now in the Idea Exchange of The Indian Express, Little Master was asked that in recent times he has given advice to Indian team batsmen regarding batsmen? Responding to this, he said that he does not do so as the team’s coaching staff consists of Rahul Dravid and Vikram Rathod. Sometimes players get confused when they get too much advice.

Sunil Gavaskar was asked in Idea Exchange that you are present during Test matches. Has any Indian batsman asked you for help with his batting in the last 5 or 10 years? Responding to this, Gavaskar said, “Rahul Dravid, Sachin Tendulkar, VVS Laxman used to visit me regularly. They would approach me with a specific problem and you can tell them something that you have seen.”
Advice given to Mayank Agarwal
Gavaskar said, “The only time I took the initiative in the recent past was when we were in the same hotel with the Indian team. Mayank Agarwal was passing by for breakfast. I remember telling him that he should shorten his backlift. Even after defending due to backlift, that ball used to take the edge of the bat. I don’t have ego. I can talk to him, but since Rahul Dravid and Vikram Rathour are the two coaches. Sometimes you hold back because you don’t want to confuse them with too much information.”
