Ganga Expressway: Ganga Expressway will start a year before the deadline, Yogi government’s big preparation before Kumbh
Ganga Expressway: Ganga Expressway will pass through 12 districts of Uttar Pradesh. It will start from Meerut and end at Prayagraj. 36 thousand crore rupees are being spent on this expressway being prepared through PPP model.
Ganga Expressway: The Yogi government of Uttar Pradesh is going to give a big gift to the people of the state soon. UP’s biggest expressway project Ganga Expressway can be started ahead of time. Its construction is being completed fast. About 594 km long this expressway is being constructed by Adani Enterprises and IRB Infrastructure Developers. The UP government has also made a plan to give financial incentives to both the companies on a weekly basis to speed up the work. The deadline for completing this project has been kept as December 2025. However, both the companies have been asked to finish this work a year in advance i.e. by December 2024.
Preparation to start expressway before Kumbh
Kumbh is to be organized in Prayagraj in 2025. Prior to this, the work of the expressway is being speeded up. Uttar Pradesh Expressway Industrial Development Authority Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Narendra Bhushan says the project is supposed to take three years, but we have requested the builders to complete it ahead of schedule keeping in mind the Kumbh Mela. For this, the 594 kilometer long Ganga Expressway is very important for the UP government. Spread across 12 districts of the state from Meerut to Prayagraj, this expressway is being developed on PPP model at an estimated cost of Rs 36,000 crore. The government wants the Ganga Expressway to be ready before the deadline. The government wants to commission the Ganga Expressway before the start of Kumbh.
Adani Group got 3 out of 4 contracts
This express is being constructed on PPP model. It has to be prepared in a total of four sections. Adani Enterprises has got the tender for three out of four sections. At the same time, a tender has been received by IRB Infrastructure Developers. The first section starts from Meerut and extends for 130 km. This work is being done by IRB Infrastructure Developers till Amroha. On the other hand, Adani Enterprises is doing Section-2 spread over 152 km, it is from Badaun to Hardoi district. Section-3 spread over 155 km is from Hardoi to Unnao, while 157 km long section-4 is being prepared from Unnao to Prayagraj.
How many expressways in UP
Apart from Ganga Expressway, UP has Lucknow-Agra Expressway, Purvanchal Expressway, Bundelkhand Expressway and Gorakhpur Link Expressway. Apart from this, Yamuna Expressway was constructed by Jaypee Group.
Ganga Expressway will pass through these districts
Ganga Expressway starting from Meerut in Uttar Pradesh will go to Jyotiba Phule Nagar, Hapur, Sambhal, Badaun, Shahjahanpur, Farrukhabad, Hardoi, Unnao, Rae Bareli, Pratapgarh and Prayagraj. After the construction of Ganga Expressway, the distance from Lucknow to Meerut will be reduced to 5 hours.
Why would it be special?
The speed of vehicles on Ganga Expressway will be 120 km per hour. There will be 9 public convenience complexes, two main toll plazas (Meerut and Prayagraj) and 15 ramp toll plazas on the expressway. Long bridges of about 960 meters length on river Ganga and about 720 meters on river Ramganga and an airstrip will be built near Shahjahanpur.
