Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) leader Chirag Paswan has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday (May 26) congratulating him for the inauguration of the new Parliament House. Condemning the decision to boycott the opposition parties, Chirag Paswan termed it as an attack on democratic values and constitutional institutions.

Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) leader Chirag Paswan said, “I and my party LJP (Ram Vilas) condemn the decision of 19 opposition parties to boycott the inauguration of the new parliament building, the opposition parties to boycott this historic moment. The verdict is an attack on democratic values and constitutional institutions, the opposition has repeatedly disrupted the proceedings of Parliament in 9 years.
He said that our party has supported the decisions taken by the government in the public interest even after being in the ruling coalition and even after leaving it. He said, “I and my party support you (Modi government) and request the opposition to reconsider their stand”.

Opposition parties have opened a front against the central government regarding the inauguration of the new parliament building. The Congress has termed the absence of the President to inaugurate the new building as an insult to the Constitution. 19 opposition parties have also distanced themselves from the inauguration. 19 opposition parties including the Congress party have announced to boycott the inauguration of the new Parliament.
The joint statement issued by 19 parties said that when the soul of democracy has been sucked out of Parliament, we do not see any value in the new building. A public interest litigation related to this matter was also filed in the Supreme Court, which was rejected by the Supreme Court on Friday (May 26).
