Srinath, a resident of Munnar district of Kerala, belongs to a middle-class family. He used to work as a porter at Ernakulam railway station in Kerala to run the family. In 2018, at the age of 27, he realized that the coolie’s income was not enough for the family. At that time they had a one year old daughter. So to give her a good childhood she decided to do better.

He started working as a porter even at night to make his earning more than 400-500 per day, but that too could not be enough and he made up his mind to prepare for civil service and started preparing.

Success Story: There was no money for coaching, such preparations
According to various media reports, he thought of preparing for KPSC, but he did not have the money nor the time for coaching. He could not leave work and study. So Srinath started preparing by using the railway’s free WiFi and used to study via mobile phone whenever he got time from work.

IAS Success Story: Success in 4th attempt
He used to listen to lectures online through mobile phone and prepare from the notes available online. After clearing the KPSC exam, he started preparing for UPSC and cracked UPSC 2021 in his fourth attempt. The then Railway Minister had congratulated him.
