Former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan, his wife Bushra Bibi and 80 other members of his party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) have been put on the no-fly list. According to sources, this information has come to the fore on Thursday (May 25). The matter between the government and Imran Khan is getting deeper due to the ruckus that started after the arrest of Imran Khan in the beginning of the month of May. On Wednesday, Imran Khan, while addressing the people of Pakistan, had said that his party was being cracked down on in a big way.
Imran Khan made allegations
Imran Khan on Thursday (May 25) alleged on Twitter that the Pakistan government was trying to eliminate his party PTI. “Today the biggest and only federal party is facing hatred of power, more than 10,000 PTI workers and supporters including senior leadership are in jail and some are facing custodial sentences,” he tweeted. Earlier, Imran Khan had indicated that he was ready to set up a committee and hold talks with the government.
According to media reports, the no-fly list includes the names of prominent PTI leaders like Kasim Suri, Asad Umar, Asad Kaiser, Aslam Iqbal, Yasmin Rashid, Murad Saeed, Malika Bukhari, Fawad Chaudhary and Hammad Azhar. Sources said the interior ministry has taken swift action to ensure that the names of these persons are made available at all airports and exit points across the country.
Sources said the authorities concerned have been directed to strictly enforce the ban and prevent any of the listed persons from traveling abroad with immediate effect. He is on bail till June 2 in three terrorism cases filed against the former Prime Minister of Pakistan in the wake of violence that erupted after Imran Khan’s arrest on May 9.
