India once again showed eye to China, did not support BRI, know what is the matter
India on Tuesday refused to support China’s ambitious Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).
A summit of leaders of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) was held on Tuesday under the chairmanship of PM Modi. Member countries like China, Pakistan, Russia etc participated in the online summit. In the declaration issued at the end of the summit, something happened that India is not very happy about. The matter is not only related to China, but Pakistan and Russia also have a role in it.
Why did India get angry?
At the end of the SCO summit, all countries signed a paragraph but India’s name was not there in it. The matter is related to the ambitious project Belt and Road Initiative (BRI Project) of Chinese President Xi Jinping. India has refused to sign the supporting paragraph. While many countries including Russia and Pakistan have given their support regarding this project of China.

According to the news of the Indian Express, in the 2023 SCO manifesto, a paragraph on BRI reads, ‘Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan confirm their support for China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). These countries support the ongoing work to jointly implement the project, including efforts to link the Eurasian Economic Union (Economic Union of Belarus, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan) and BRI.
India has always opposed the BRI, because India believes that China-Pakistan violates India’s territorial integrity and sovereignty.
On the issue of terrorism, the Delhi Declaration uses similar language to the Samarkand Declaration except for one word change: this time “chauvinism” instead of “ultra-nationalism”.
