IPL 2023: Akash Madhwal prepared a deadly weapon with the help of tennis ball, told what happened to Rohit Sharma before the match-winning spell

Mumbai Indians (MI) fast bowler Akash Madhwal bowled impressively on Wednesday in the Eliminator of the Indian Premier League 2023 (IPL 2023). Due to this, the Lucknow team had to face defeat by 81 runs. Batting first, Mumbai Indians scored 182/8 in 20 overs but Madhwal’s brilliant spell of 3.3-0-5-5 saw the Lucknow side bundle out for 101 runs in 16.3 overs.
Madhwal, an engineer from Uttarakhand, used to play cricket with a tennis ball till the age of 23. With its help, he prepared a deadly weapon. In tennis ball cricket, the bowler does not get any help from the ball. He has only one option yorker. For this reason, Akash is able to throw accurate yorkers. He himself disclosed this. He has also told what happened to captain Rohit Sharma before the match-winning spell against Lucknow.
Yorker learned from tennis ball cricket
On learning the yorker because of the tennis ball, Akash Madhwal said, “I have only learned the yorker (laughs) and I follow that. This is because in tennis ball cricket only the yorker can save the bowler, otherwise if you miss your length then you get hit for a six. That’s why there is a need to bowl accurate yorkers and I do the same here.
What was the conversation with Rohit Sharma
In a post-match chat on the IPL website, the Uttarakhand pacer spoke to Mumbai Indians batsman Suryakumar Yadav and revealed his plans against the Super Giants in the IPL 2023 eliminator match. He said, “I was given the new ball, so I thought I would bowl in my strength area – hard length and brother (Rohit Sharma) told me the same thing. They said do what you do and you will get wickets, so I did what Bhaiya told me to do. It was my and brother’s plan, we discussed it in the hotel as well.
