IPL 2023: David Warner now on Harbhajan Singh’s target, said- Delhi Capitals would have lost by 50 runs if the captain had played 50 balls

David Warner has scored 306 runs for Delhi Capitals but has been criticized for his slow strike rate. Harbhajan Singh said that his 300 runs for DC are of no use.

Former India off-spinner Harbhajan Singh has lashed out at captain David Warner for the poor performance of Delhi Capitals (DC) in IPL 2023. After eight matches, Delhi are at the bottom of the 10-team points table with just two wins from six matches. The team was defeated by Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by 9 runs on Saturday. After this Harbhajan lashed out at Warner. He said that if Warner had played 50 balls, the Delhi team would have lost by 50 runs.

Harbhajan Singh said about Delhi Capitals in a video on his YouTube channel, “I don’t think they can make a comeback and the whole reason is the captain. He hasn’t led the team well and then his form is also a matter of concern. It’s been very disappointing. Warner got out earlier today (against Sunrisers), which is why Delhi came so close. If he had played 50 balls, 50 balls would have been wasted and DC would have lost by 50 runs.”

Warner’s 300 runs of no use for DC

Harbhajan Singh further said, “Even now when he comes in the presentation, he talks about the mistakes of other players, but what have you done? You haven’t shown any intent; You scored 300+ runs but look at your strike rate. Warner hasn’t really done justice to his stature this year. His 300 runs are of no use to DC. Warner needs to look in the mirror if he wants to find the reason why DC are at the bottom.”

Delhi lost despite half-centuries from Phil Salt and Mitchell Marsh

In eight matches this season, Warner has scored 306 runs for the Capitals. Playing at home against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Saturday, Delhi defeated the visiting team by nine runs. Chasing 198, DC got a jolt when Bhuvneshwar Kumar dismissed captain David Warner on the second ball of the innings. Despite half-centuries from Phil Salt and Mitchell Marsh, the hosts failed to chase down the target as wickets fell early in the middle order. Delhi will next take on Gujarat Titans on Tuesday, May 2 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Motera.
