IPL 2023: Mahendra Singh Dhoni turns other’s garbage into gold, says former Chennai Super Kings opener
Matthew Hayden said that with the growing trend of T20 cricket across the world, it has become difficult for players to play in all three formats. Players who give up national contracts to play franchise cricket around the world cannot be blamed.
Former Australian cricketer and former Chennai Super Kings (CSK) opener Matthew Hayden believes Mahendra Singh Dhoni is a magician who can turn someone else’s garbage into gold. So much has he contributed to the success of Chennai Super Kings that talks about his future with the franchise as a player is almost irrelevant. Under Dhoni’s captaincy, CSK has reached the IPL final for the 10th time. The team’s bowling was weak at the start of the tournament, but Dhoni made the best out of it.
Even in batting, the way Ajinkya Rahane and Shivam Dubey were used, they are being praised everywhere. Dhoni played in the tournament with a knee injury. He has given himself eight to nine months to decide on his future as a player. However, Hayden believes that he will not play in the next IPL.
ms a wizard
Hayden told PTI, “MS is a magician. They take someone else’s garbage and turn it into gold. He is a very skilful and positive captain. He has said very interesting thing which shows his humility. How strong is the coordination between the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association and its team and is also a link in the process of strengthening the team. There is a process to achieving every goal and he has shown it earlier with the Indian team and now with CSK.
Dhoni will not play next year
“Whether he plays next year or not is irrelevant now,” Hayden said at an event organized by the University of Technology Sydney. I think he won’t play, but he is MS Dhoni. He said, “The time of players playing in all three formats is coming to an end. There is a lot of excitement about playing Test cricket and the World Test Championship is an example of that. Apart from this, there is a lot of T20 cricket happening.
Would Nicholas Pooran like to play Test cricket?
Hayden said players who have given up national contracts to play franchise cricket around the world cannot be blamed. He said, “It is certain that tomorrow if children want to play cricket, they will play franchise cricket only. He has seen how active many players from underprivileged sections are, especially the West Indies cricketers. For example, would Nicholas Pooran want to play Test cricket? Before that Dwayne Bravo played Test cricket but mostly played franchise cricket around the world.
