IPL 2023: Sunil Gavaskar took autograph from Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Little Master signed on his chest
Dhoni is the only captain in the world to win the Champions Trophy apart from the T20 and ODI World Cups. He has also won four titles in IPL.
Sunil Gavaskar, one of the greatest batsmen of Indian cricket, on Sunday took the autograph of the country’s most successful cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Gavaskar, who scored more than 10,000 runs in front of the best bowlers in Test cricket, took Dhoni’s autograph on his shirt near his chest after the match between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) here. This was the last match of the Chennai Super Kings at the Chepauk ground in the current season.
After the match, 41-year-old Dhoni came to the ground with a tennis racket and autographed tennis balls and started giving balls to the spectators present there with the help of the racket. Along with Dhoni, the other Chennai Super Kings players were also going around the ground handing out balls and T-shirts to the spectators when Gavaskar ran up to them from behind and then Dhoni signed his shirt near his chest.
Gavaskar told Dhoni the best captain
In the current season, when Dhoni played his 200th match as captain for Chennai, Gavaskar termed him as the best captain in IPL history. Gavaskar had said on April 17 this year, “The Chennai Super Kings team knows how to get out of difficult situations and this has been possible only under the captaincy of Dhoni. Captaining 200 matches for any one franchise is very difficult, captaincy is like a burden which affects the performance of the player but Mahi is different, he is a different captain. There has never been a captain like him, nor will there be anyone like him in the future.
A look at Dhoni’s captaincy
The Chennai team is in the playoff race and after reaching the last 4, it can be seen playing in Chepauk. Two playoff matches are to be held on this ground. With 15 points from 13 matches, CSK will take on Delhi Capitals (DC) in Delhi for their final league stage match on Saturday, May 20. Dhoni is the only captain in the world to win the Champions Trophy apart from the T20 and ODI World Cups. He has also won four titles in IPL and his team is the second most successful team in this league after Mumbai Indians (five titles).
