According to The Mint, of the Rs 10,120 crore revenue, the board, franchise owners and broadcasters get 65 per cent directly, while the rest comes from different sources. The broadcasters of the league, Star Sports and Jio Cinema, have received Rs 4700 crore, the franchisee Rs 1450 crore and the BCCI around Rs 430 crore.
Fantasy platform also got a lot of money
Apart from this, the fantasy sports platform got a profit of Rs 2800 crore this season. About six crore users invested money on these apps. It is not difficult to guess from these figures that not only the players but also the organizers have benefited greatly from the league.
Records were also broken in viewership
This year IPL also got a lot of viewership. This time the rights of live telecast were with Star Sports while the rights of live streaming were given to Jio Cinema. 12.6 crore viewership was seen on Jio Cinema’s platform. A total of 4271 crore minutes were recorded as live broadcast on TV during IPL.
