Jammu Kashmir: Big blow to Ghulam Nabi Azad, 126 workers including former deputy CM Tara Chand left Democratic Azad Party
Ghulam Nabi Azad: Former Deputy CM of Jammu and Kashmir Tara Chand resigned two days after he was expelled from the party along with former minister Manohar Lal Sharma and ex-MLA Balwan Singh.
Democratic Azad Party: The Democratic Azad Party (DAP) of Ghulam Nabi Azad has suffered a major setback. 126 workers have resigned from the party. These include former Deputy Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Tara Chand. These people say that there is a group of people around Ghulam Nabi Azad, who want to harm the party.
Tara Chand said, “Today 126 people have resigned from the party. We were working for the party, but there is a group around Ghulam Nabi Azad who wants to destroy the party and is giving him wrong information.” Tara Chand resigned two days after he was expelled from the party along with former minister Manohar Lal Sharma and former MLA Balwan Singh.
“Resigning from the Congress in support of Ghulam Nabi Azad was a mistake,” he said. More than 100 office bearers and founding members of the DAP announced their resignation from the party in support of the three leaders.
Tara Chand, however, said he would remain secular till his last breath and would not mind joining the Rahul Gandhi-led Bharat Jodo Yatra if it enters Jammu and Kashmir. He said that he has a long association with Azad and when he resigned from the Congress, we felt that we should stand by our leader and give him moral support.
