Karnataka Election Result: Even after victory in Karnataka, CPI(M) told Congress weak, tauntingly gave this advice

CPI(M) has taken a big dig at the Congress party. The Left party has called the Congress weak. A CPI(M) leader said that state-level alliances are needed for the Lok Sabha elections.

Churning is going on in the Congress party on who will be the next CM of Karnataka. The Congress high command has called former state CM Siddaramaiah to Delhi. Sources say that DK Shivakumar can also be called to Delhi. Meanwhile, the ruling CPI(M) in Kerala indirectly targeted the Congress on Monday. The CPI(M) asked the Congress to protect its newly appointed MLAs from the BJP in Karnataka.

Describing the Congress as weak and unable to compete with the BJP, the CPI(M) pitched for a state-level alliance to defeat the BJP in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. The state secretary of the CPI(M) said that the alliance at the national level would be of no use. We need to form anti BJP groups at state level, so that BJP can be defeated in every state. This is the only way.

A day before this, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan had also advocated a similar strategy. CPI(M) State Secretary MV Govindan said that the Congress is the only party that can take on the BJP, it is just ‘a fact’.

There must have been some compulsions… Shivkumar not going to Delhi is telling a lot, will Siddaramaiah emerge ahead in the CM race?

He said that anyone who is aware of Congress knows that Karnataka was the only state where Congress could fight elections effectively. Apart from this, where they can fight elections effectively are Gujarat, Rajasthan and some other states but even there the Congress is weak. Still there are internal disputes in the party.

He suggested to the Congress that the Congress should focus on selecting a chief minister and cabinet ministers in Karnataka and in the meantime keep a watchful eye on any attempts by the BJP to poach Congress MLAs. He said that everyone knows that BJP has the means to buy MLAs. This is what happened in Goa during the Bharat Jodo Yatra.

Let us tell you that in the month of September last year in Goa, 8 out of 11 MLAs of the Congress party had joined the BJP. This happened within a few months of the elections being held there. Govindan said that BJP is the biggest threat and people want to defeat it. So all anti BJP groups should unite to defeat it.

Govindan’s statement is in complete contrast to his party colleague and Fisheries Minister Saji Cheriyan’s view. He had said that Congress was one of the strongest parties in India and there was nothing wrong in asking them to come forward in the fight against BJP. He also said that he does not agree with the view of Congress but let them lead. To preserve secularism in the country, he needs to come forward and lead. There is no difference in this.
