  • Year 1999: Congress returned to power in Karnataka in 1999. It won 132 seats and SM Krishna became the Chief Minister of the state. The vote share of Congress in that election was 40.84%.
  • Year 2004: The BJP came to power in Karnataka for the first time in 2004. However, then it was able to win only 79 seats. Then its vote share was 28.33%. At that time BS Yeddyurappa became the Chief Minister of the state.
