Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah: Nutan Kumar was sacked from the job on Friday.
Karnataka News: The job of the wife of the late Praveen Netru, leader of the Karnataka BJP youth unit, will be restored. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah announced this on Saturday. Netru’s wife’s job will be restored on humanitarian grounds. Nutan was fired from the job a day ago. Her husband Praveen was murdered last year.
Bommai government had given job on contract
Nutan Kumari was given a contract job on humanitarian grounds on the request of BJP’s Karnataka unit president and MP from Dakshina Kannada region, Nalin Kumar Kateel. The then Bommai government of the state had issued an order of appointment as Senior Assistant (Group-C) in the Chief Minister’s Office on September 22, 2022. Later, on the request of Nutan, he was posted in the office of the Deputy Commissioner of Dakshina Kannada. Nutan was working there since October 14 last year. The appointment order given at that time stated that Nutan would continue to serve till the current chief minister ceases to hold office or until further orders.
Nutan was sacked on Friday
Nutan Kumari was also sacked on Friday (May 27, 2023) along with over 150 other temporary employees appointed during the tenure of the previous government, as Nutan was also on temporary service. After this, BJP leaders created a lot of ruckus.
Siddaramaiah government changed its decision after opposition from BJP leaders
After the uproar by the BJP leaders, Siddaramaiah of the state made a tweet. Siddaramaiah wrote, ‘It is a natural process to dismiss the temporary employees appointed in the previous government from the government service after the new government comes. He said that there is no interference of the government in such matters. However, he added that Nutan Kumari’s case would be treated as an exception and she would be exclusively reappointed on humanitarian grounds.
Asked about Kumari’s temporary appointment by the Basavaraj Bommai-led government, Kateel said, “There were legal hurdles in regularizing her services.” He said that the BJP government had taken legal opinion to remove these hurdles and regularize their service.
Praveen was murdered on July 22, 2022
On July 26, 2022, the Hinduist leader was murdered in Bellare, Dakshina Kannada. Bommai then issued an order temporarily appointing Nutan Kumari on compassionate grounds to his office in Bengaluru. According to sources, Kumari was among the 57 people who were appointed on contract basis to Group C posts in the Chief Minister’s Office. Popular Front of India (PFI) activists were accused of killing Praveen Nettar. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) is probing the case.
