Kashmir: Case of insult of national anthem in LG’s program, 12 people banned, action on policemen also

In Jammu and Kashmir, a case of insult to the national anthem has come to the fore in front of Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha. The claim is that the police took action against twelve people for not standing during the national anthem played at a function on Thursday (July 6) in the presence of Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha. Apart from this, departmental action has also been initiated against the police music band for not standing up before the national anthem is played.

What is the matter, action taken on 12 people

According to the claims, the police have informed in this matter that during a program in which the Lieutenant Governor was also present, the national anthem was played and some people did not stand up during it. Now the police has taken action against 12 such people. These 12 people have been booked under sections 107 and 151 of the CrPC. These sections give the police the power to arrest or detain any person suspected of an offense or to compel him to sign a bond.

According to officials, some people did not stand up during the closing ceremony of the ‘Pedal for Peace’ cycling event organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Police on June 25.

He said that the Jammu and Kashmir administration has taken a strong note of the desecration of the national anthem and has initiated an inquiry into the alleged violation. Police sources had earlier said that 14 people were arrested for disrespecting the national anthem and some policemen were also suspended.

Rumor rebuttal

A statement issued by the Srinagar Police said that 14 policemen/persons have been arrested/suspended for disrespecting the National Anthem, it is not so, this news is completely false, rather 12 persons have been arrested in general. But has been banned for good behavior under section 107/151.
