Operation Blue Star: On the 39th anniversary of Operation Blue Star, pro-Khalistan slogans have been raised at the Golden Temple. News agency ANI has released a video of Khalistan supporters raising Khalistani slogans in the Golden Temple. Posters of Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale are also visible in the hands of those who raise Khalistani slogans in the video.

Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale was the head of the radical Sikh organization Damdami Taksal. In June 1984, the Indian Army launched Operation Blue Star to flush out terrorists from the Golden Temple. During this, Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale and a large number of his supporters were killed.

The Punjab Police has beefed up security at the Golden Temple in Amritsar and in the entire city in view of the anniversary of Operation Blue Star. DCP (Law and Order) Parminder Singh said that police in plain clothes have also been deployed. The city has been sealed to prevent any untoward incident. Apart from this, adequate police personnel have been deployed at various places in the city.

The terrorist in the Golden Temple was Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale. Bhindranwale had stored a large amount of weapons in the Golden Temple complex. Sikh organizations still raise questions on the Government of India for this operation. Several days after this operation, Indira Gandhi was shot dead by her two Sikh bodyguards on 31 October 1984.
