KL Rahul Fined: Lucknow Super Giants defeated Rajasthan Royals on Wednesday. The Lucknow team was not looking to win the match but in the last overs, the bowlers played brilliantly and took the lost match to their name. He has cemented his place at the second spot in the points table. The team got the victory but captain KL Rahul will now have to loosen his pocket.
KL Rahul fined
Batting first, Lucknow Super Giants scored 154 runs. When it was his turn to bowl, he could not complete the overs on time. Each team has to complete 20 overs in three hours 20 minutes, if they do not do so then the captain gets the punishment. IPL said in its official statement, ‘This was the first mistake of the team, due to which Mr. Rahul is being fined Rs 12 lakh as per the code of conduct of IPL.’
Many captains have become victims
Before KL Rahul, many other captains have also faced this punishment, including Faf du Plessis of Royal Challengers Bangalore and Suryakumar Yadav of Mumbai Indians. Almost every match of the league is going for four hours due to which there is a lot of trouble.
If KL Rahul’s team commits this mistake again, he will be fined Rs 24 lakh and the match fees of the rest of the players will be deducted. If this mistake is made for the third time, Rahul can be banned for one match.
Rajasthan lost the match at its own home
The Rajasthan Royals team was playing the match in Jaipur for the first time after the year 2019. This was also the first match of one season old Lucknow in Jaipur. Batting first, Lucknow Super Giants scored 54 runs. Rajasthan started strongly and shared an 87-run partnership for the first wicket. After this, the bowlers made a comeback and allowed the Rajasthan team to score only 144 runs in 20 overs.
