KV Contractual Jobs: Number of contractual teachers increased 3 times in Kendriya Vidyalayas from 2020, 12,099 more teachers will be recruited

It was told in the Lok Sabha that the number of contractual teachers was 3260 in 2020-21 and this number increased to 10,462 in 2022-23.

The number of contractual teachers in Kendriya Vidyalayas has tripled in recent years. According to the data presented on Monday (March 13, 2023), the number of contractual teachers has increased in the last three years as compared to regular teachers. It was also told that more than 12 thousand teachers are to be recruited in these schools, for which advertisement has also been given.

Advertisement given for the recruitment of 12,099 teachers

It was informed in the Lok Sabha that the number of contractual teachers was 3260 in 2020-21 and this number increased to 10,462 in 2022-23. It was also informed that Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, which manages KV schools, has advertised for 12,099 vacancies for teachers recruitment.

By 2022, 10,462 contract teachers were working on vacant posts

Minister of State (Education) Annapurna Devi has given this information in a written reply to BSP MP Ritesh Pandey. According to this, till December 31, 2022, 10,462 contract teachers were working on vacant posts in KV. If we look at the figures of previous years, it is known that the number of contractual teachers had increased to 9539 in 2018-19, 8912 in 2019-20 and 3260 in 2020-21, as the recruitment drive was conducted in 2019. However, within a year, the dependence on contract teachers increased again and the number increased to 8,105 and 10,462 by 2022.

Of the total 12,099 regular vacancies in KVs, 6150 fall under the unreserved category, 3254 are for OBCs, while 1802 and 893 are reserved for members of SC and ST communities, respectively. The government gave this information in a written reply to a question by YSRCP MP N Reddippa in the Lok Sabha on Monday.

It said, “New vacancies arise due to additional requirements due to retirement, resignation, promotion, increase in the number of students. Filling of vacancies is a continuous process and efforts are made to fill the vacancies as per the provisions of the recruitment rules of the concerned institute. The teachers are appointed on contract basis by the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) for a temporary period.
