Tuesday (July 5) was a very important day for Maharashtra politics. The petition filed before the Election Commission by the Ajit Pawar faction claimed that in the party’s national executive meeting held on June 30, a resolution was passed that instead of Sharad Pawar, the command of the NCP would be in the hands of Ajit Pawar. Amidst all this, Sharad Pawar has now called a meeting of the National Executive in New Delhi on Thursday, 6th July.
This meeting of the National Executive is being considered very important in many respects. Who is the real entitled of NCP, this is the biggest question at the moment. Ajit Pawar has the upper hand in terms of support of MLAs. Issues like insurgency in the party, command of the party, property, election symbol, name of the party can be discussed in the National Executive meeting.
Who will be attending the meeting?
While Ajit Pawar has tried to make it clear by showing strength of numbers that he is the real chief of NCP, the Sharad Pawar faction has also made full preparations to face him. In the meeting held on Tuesday, Supriya Sule targeted Ajit Pawar and said that he has become a part of the world’s most corrupt party.
It will be important to see what comes out of the meeting to be held in Delhi today. NCP’s Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha MPs including Jayant Patil, Supriya Sule, Jitendra Awhad will be present in this meeting to be led by Sharad Pawar. According to media reports, a resolution against Ajit Pawar may be passed in this meeting.
Who has the upper hand?
The number game is also considered to be very important to show who is the rightful leader of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP). Both Sharad Pawar and Ajit Pawar called separate meetings on Wednesday to show that they have the numbers needed to claim to be the “real NCP”.
