Mahindra Thar.e: On August 15, the world’s “Thar Electric” will be presented at the front
Thar Electric” will be previewed.
what’s special
The Mahindra Thar will be equipped with square-shaped LED headlamps, but also with greater autonomy if the company prepares this SUV on its modern “Born Electric” (BE) platform.
Mahindra & Mahindra is gearing up for a further expansion of its electric vehicles. The company recently introduced the affordable real-wheel-drive (RWD) version of its popular Thar off-road SUV, and is now preparing to introduce its electric version. Mahindra will present the electric Thar on August 15 in Cape Town, South Africa. Recently, the company also published a teaser of this version on its official social media account, which has been dubbed “Thar.e”.
What the teaser says:
In this video teaser of just 18 seconds, the company showed a slight glimpse of its new electric Thar.
This electric SUV, christened “Thar.e”, features square-shaped light-emitting diodes. It also features a pixel structure, like Mahindra’s pickup concept. The company is building it on its Born Electric platform, on which many other models will be launched.
Like Thare, it will help Mahindra position its SUV as a global model, not just limited to the global market. In the teaser, we can see several designs of the same concept vehicle. Mahindra’s new INGLO EV platform will probably be shared with the BE and XUVe series of future electric vehicles.
For the time being, the Thar is equipped with a solid ladder chassis. Electrifying the ladder chassis is a big challenge. But it’s not impossible, and Mahindra is also a strong manufacturer of commercial vehicles, so Mahindra won’t encounter any major difficulties in this area. Furthermore, in terms of weight and space, the Thare won’t have too much to contend with with the existing ladder chassis, which will offer better space for the battery.
For the moment, nothing can be said about the Mahindra Thare’s range or other features. But we can expect better range. When launched on the Indian market, it will be the country’s first electric SUV. Further information about the electric Thar will only be revealed after its launch.
