Maruti Suzuki to launch new MPV based on Toyota Innova Hycross

The premium MPV that Maruti Suzuki has announced to launch will be made in collaboration with Toyota Kirloskar.

In view of the growing popularity of the MPV segment and the vacant space in it, the country’s largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki is about to launch a new MPV in this segment, which has been officially confirmed by the company. This MPV of Maruti Suzuki will be based on Toyota Innova Highcross which will be equipped with premium design and features.

The MPV, a Maruti Suzuki-Toyota collaboration, will be built at Toyota’s Bidadi plant and supplied to Maruti Suzuki. The new Maruti Suzuki MPV will be launched in the market by July 2023. Which will be offered with two new powertrain options.

New Maruti Suzuki MPV: The flagship model for the brand

This upcoming Maruti Suzuki MPV will be the first Toyota product to be made in India for Maruti Suzuki. As part of the tie-up, Suzuki-manufactured vehicles such as the Baleno and the now-discontinued Vitara Brezza were cross-badged and sold as the Glanza and the Urban Cruiser in India.

The new Maruti Suzuki MPV will be the flagship vehicle for the brand and will be sold through the NEXA dealership chain.

New Maruti Suzuki MPV: Design

Similar to the previous cross-badged vehicles between both the carmakers, it is expected that the Maruti Suzuki MPV will feature a unique grille, different headlamps and new bumper design. Other styling combinations could be a unique tail-lamp design as well. The cabin of this new MPV will get some new interior shade options similar to the new Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and Toyota Header.

Talking about the features, it has 10.25 inch touchscreen infotainment system, 8 time power adjustable driver seat, auto climate control, rear AC vents, ambient lighting, 7 airbags, anti lock braking system with EBD, vehicle stability control, hill start assist, Features like front and rear parking sensors can be found.
