The Mercedes AMG SL 55 Roadster will be offered with 6 driving modes (Slippery, Comfort, Sport, Sport+, Individual and Race) to suit the different driving styles of people.
Mercedes is bringing its iconic nameplate Mercedes-AMG SL back to India on 22 June 2023 after a long gap of 12 years. Mercedes-Benz will bring the AMG SL 55 4MATIC+ to India through direct imports. Here in this article, let you know what to expect from this luxury 2+2 roadster.
Mercedes-AMG SL 55 Roadster: Icon strikes back
Mercedes-Benz has decided to take a different approach for the SL range. Now, this nameplate is only available in the AMG lineup. The SL Roadster is based on a complete aluminum structure which enhances the driving dynamics, comfort and sporty body proportions without compromising on proportions.
Mercedes has opted to go with an electric soft top instead of carrying forward the metal roof offered last year due to weight saving reasons. With a 21 kg weight reduction off the roof, the car also has a lower center of gravity resulting in better driving dynamics and handling. It takes only 15 seconds to open or close the folding roof when driving at a speed of 60 kmph.
Mercedes-AMG SL 55 Roadster: Engine specs
The SL Roadster is powered by AMG 4-litre V8 turbo engine and is available in two power outputs SL 55 4Matic+ and SL 63 4Matic+. India will get the first option. The V8 powertrain in the SL 55 4Matic+ pumps out 469bhp and 700Nm of torque. It sprints from 0 to 100 kmph in 3.9 seconds from a standstill. The top speed of this car is 295 kmph.
The 4-litre V8 engine found in this roadster is mated to a 9-speed AMG transmission with a wet start-off clutch instead of a torque converter, which makes it lighter. The SL 55 AMG also comes with 4Matic+ all-wheel-drive system which provides stability and safety under all driving conditions. With the optional AMG Dynamic Plus package, the SL 55 AMG gets different driving modes (Slippery, Comfort, Sport, Sport+, Individual and Race).
