Mother-daughter killed in Gurgaon due to SUV driver’s mistake, Baleno taking a U-turn collided
Relatives of the deceased said that while taking a U-turn near Raheja Vedanta Society, a Kia SUV coming from Delhi could not see the Baleno and crashed into it.
Mother-daughter died after being hit by an SUV on Sunday (May 16, 2023) in Gurugram, Haryana. This accident happened in the collision of Baleno and SUV. There were 4 people aboard the Baleno, out of which two died. The incident took place in Sector 106.
Police said Kamal Matta, a resident of Delhi, had come to see a property in Sector 108 along with his wife Neelam and daughter Monika. He was accompanied by Karanjit Singh, a real estate broker. The accident happened when the four were going to Sohna to see their relatives. Kamal, who was driving his Baleno, had just taken a U-turn when the SUV crashed and could not apply the brakes in time.
Neelam’s brother Yogesh Bhalla said, “They were coming to meet me in Sohna and the accident happened while taking a U-turn near Raheja Vedanta Society. A Kia SUV coming from Delhi did not see the Baleno and crashed into it.” . Some laborers working at a construction site immediately rushed to the spot. He arranged an ambulance and took the injured to a private hospital. My sister and her daughter were declared dead on arrival at the hospital. We also came to know that there was a couple in the SUV, they are also injured.”
Kamal and Broker are undergoing treatment at a private hospital. According to the Times of India, a laborer who reached the spot said, “It was around 5 pm on Sunday. The Baleno car was taking a U-turn when an SUV coming on the road crashed into it. The SUV driver could not apply brakes in time. After the collision, the Baleno was dragged for about 20 metres. Everyone working in our construction rushed there to help and evacuate the occupants. “An ambulance reached there after about 15 minutes. We had arranged some first aid from a nearby store. The condition of the two women in the car was extremely critical.”
On the complaint of Yogesh Bhalla, an FIR has been registered against the SUV driver. An FIR has been registered at Rajendra Park Police Station under IPC sections 304A and 337. Police said the SUV driver was at a very high speed as he was going to see an ailing relative. No arrest had been made till late Monday evening.
