Not only MS Dhoni, these players also celebrate birthday on July 7, one has made the country ‘world champion’
Legendary hockey player Shankar Laxman and Indian cricketer Devdutt Padikkal also celebrate their birthday on July 7, like Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
Indian sports fans remember the date of July 7 as the birthday of Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Mahi brought three ICC trophies to the country and forever settled in the hearts of the fans. It is not only Dhoni’s birthday on the 7th. Two more players celebrate their birthday on this day. One of them is an Olympic medalist and the other an Indian cricketer like Dhoni.
Shankar Laxman was like Mahendra Singh Dhoni
The success that Dhoni brought to India in cricket, the same success that Shankar Laxman brought to hockey, but he does not get much credit for it. Shankar Laxman was born on July 7, 1933 in Mhow, Madhya Pradesh. Like Dhoni, Shankar Laxman was also born on July 7, both players chose football first, both captained the Indian team, Laxman used to do goalkeeping like Dhoni wicketkeeping.
Shankar Laxman gave three Olympic medals to the country
Despite the similarities between the two, there is a huge difference in their stature in the minds of Indian fans. Whenever Shankar Laxman participated in the Olympics, he never came empty handed. He was part of the Olympic medalist team of 1956 (Gold), 1960 (Silver) and 1964 (Gold). India also won gold in the 1966 Asian Games under his captaincy. Shankar was associated with the army and after retirement he started running a ration shop and died the death of oblivion.
Devdutt Padikkal also celebrates birthday with Dhoni
July 7 is also the birthday of young cricketer Devdutt Padikkal. Padikkal got real recognition from IPL where he used to play for Royal Challengers Bangalore. For this reason, he got a chance to make T20 debut for the Indian team. In the year 2021, he made his debut against Sri Lanka. In this innings, he scored 29 runs in 23 balls. Padikkal currently plays for Rajasthan Royals in IPL.
