On the very first day of Sawan, a crowd of kanwariyas gathered in Sultanganj, the city echoed with the slogans of ‘Bol-Bam’.

Between Bol-Bam and Har-Har Mahadev’s Jai Ghosh, the two-month-long world-famous Shravani fair began on Tuesday, July 4.

State Revenue and Land Reforms Minister Alok Mehta and Agriculture Minister cum District In-charge Minister Kumar Sarvjeet jointly inaugurated the fair by lighting the lamp in a grand ceremony organized at Sultanganj in Bhagalpur district. Revenue and Land Reforms Minister Mr. Mehta said in his address that the state government is committed to provide better facilities to the Kanwariya devotees coming to this fair and every possible effort will be made to give it a national identity. It has been announced to stop the trains at Sultanganj station.

Along with this, special trains have been run for Raxaul, Patna, Gaya, Gorakhpur, Asansol, Bhagalpur and Jasidih. Which will stop at Sultanganj station. Vikas Kumar, DRM of Malda Railway Division has himself visited Bhagalpur-Sultanganj.

At the same time, elaborate arrangements have been made for electricity, water, cleanliness and security in the fair area. He said that Ganga Uttar Vahini has been started in Sultanganj itself. For this reason, filling water in Kanwar here is considered holy. During this, full care is being taken that they do not face any inconvenience. For this, officers and personnel of various government departments have been put on duty round the clock.

The in-charge minister said that for the convenience of the devotees, pandals, toilets, health camps as well as cultural programs have been set up at various places on the long Kanwaria path under Bhagalpur, Banka and Munger districts connected with this huge human chain fair organized for the entire month of Sawan. Arrangements have been made.

He said that the raw Kanwariya road has been made accessible for the pilgrims from Sultanganj to Jharkhand border. And special security arrangements have been made at all places. Banka MP Girdhari Yadav, MLA Pawan Yadav, Lalit Narayan Mandal, Lalan Paswan, Legislative Councilor Vijay Kumar Singh and Divisional Commissioner Dayanidhi Pandey were also present on the occasion.

Here, with the start of this fair, Kanwariyas wearing saffron clothes have started reaching Sultanganj from different parts of the country and abroad amid drizzling rains. During this, the entire fair area and Kanwariya Marg started echoing with the chants of Bol Bam and Har Har Mahadev. There is devotional atmosphere all around.

In Sultanganj, the Kanwariyas coming from country and abroad fill the holy water of Uttar Vahani Ganga in Kanwar and from here, after reaching Deoghar in Jharkhand, walking about one hundred and five kilometers barefoot, perform Jalabhishek on the Shivling of Baba Baidyanath Dham. In spite of this journey being inaccessible, there is no decrease in the courage and devotion of the devotees. And everyday there is a flood of devotees on the entire Kanwariya Marg. After reaching Devghar Baba Dham, he worships in 22 temples there.

Meanwhile, according to Bhagalpur District Magistrate Subrat Kumar Sen Kumar and Senior Superintendent of Police Anand Kumar, this time priority has been given to cleanliness, water, medical and security for the convenience of Kanwariyas for the whole two months. Police personnel in plain clothes will be stationed in the entire Mela area and Kanwariya Marg amidst the crowd of Kanwariyas.

CCTV and border security forces have been installed in crowded areas and sensitive places. On the other hand, the employees of different departments will participate in the sorrows and happiness of the Kanwariyas. However, a large number of Kanwariyas from Sultanganj are going to Baba Nagri Deoghar with chants of Bol Bam and Har Har Mahadev after filling the holy water of Uttar Vahini Ganga. The whole atmosphere has become blissful with the chanting.
