‘People have put a stamp… that he is with AAP’, says Arvind Kejriwal after victory in Jalandhar
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said, “This unexpected victory in the Jalandhar bypoll is the result of the Bhagwant Mann government’s good work in Punjab. Our party’s candidate has won there, which was a Congress bastion for the last 50 years.”
There is an atmosphere of happiness in the party after the landslide victory of the Aam Aadmi Party in the by-election for the Jalandhar Lok Sabha seat in Punjab. Congress could not succeed in saving its 24 years old fort. Voting was held on this seat on May 10, the results of which have come on Saturday (May 13, 2023). In this, AAP’s Sushil Kumar Rinku has won with good votes. Meanwhile, AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal said on Saturday that the party’s resounding victory was due to the good work done by the state’s Bhagwant Mann government.
After the victory in the Jalandhar bypoll, the Aam Aadmi Party will now have a member in the Lok Sabha. After losing the bypoll in Sangrur last year, the AAP did not have a single member in the Lok Sabha. Earlier, Bhagwant Mann was a Lok Sabha member of AAP, but he resigned from the Lok Sabha membership before becoming the Chief Minister of Punjab. Due to this the Sangrur parliamentary seat had become vacant. AAP currently has 10 members in the Rajya Sabha.
Talking about the Jalandhar by-election at the Aam Aadmi Party headquarters, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said, “This unexpected victory in the Jalandhar by-election is the result of the Bhagwant Mann government’s good work in Punjab. Our party’s candidate has won there, which was a Congress bastion for the last 50 years.”
Congress MP from Jalandhar, Santokh Singh Chowdhary, died of a heart attack in January this year, leaving the seat vacant and the Congress fielded Karamjit Kaur Chowdhary, the late MP’s wife.
Arvind Kejriwal said, “We do politics of work and seek votes from people for our work, and people have stamped the work of Bhagwant Mann government that we are with you..this is a big message.” Mann, who was accompanied by Kejriwal, said the trends in the bypolls show that people have put a “positive seal” on the work done by his government in Punjab. He said, “The election result has increased our responsibility and my confidence. We will work harder for the development of Punjab.”
