Congress leader Rahul Gandhi arrived in San Francisco on Tuesday (May 30) during his three-city tour of the US. He was received at the airport by Indian Overseas Congress President Sam Pitroda and other IOC members. Rahul will interact with NRIs and meet US lawmakers here. At the same time, Congress sources said that Rahul had to wait for two hours at the airport for immigration clearance.

It took about two hours for Rahul Gandhi to leave through the normal process at the San Francisco airport as he had a normal passport. On June 4, Rahul Gandhi will address people of Indian origin in New York and interact with students at the prestigious Stanford University in San Francisco. He will then address a press conference in Washington and hold meetings with lawmakers and think tanks.

Rahul Gandhi is traveling on normal passport
Rahul Gandhi may also address Indian Americans during his visit to the US. His visit will end with an event in New York on June 4. Earlier, Rahul Gandhi got a new passport on May 28 after being issued a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from a local court in Delhi. After which he left for America on Monday. The former Congress president had applied for a normal passport after surrendering the diplomatic passport issued to him as a Member of Parliament.
Significantly, Rahul Gandhi was found guilty in a defamation case in March 2023 by the Surat court for a speech given on the Modi surname in 2019 and sentenced to two years. After which the parliament membership of Rahul Gandhi was cancelled.
