Smartphone impact on Indian couples: Do you also feel that your partner is spending more time with his smartphone than you? You are not alone in feeling this way. Vivo India, in association with Cybermedia Research (CMR), has conducted a study on the effects of excessive use of smartphones by married couples. And the study found that 69 percent of Indian married people admitted that they are too engrossed in their smartphones to pay attention to their partner.
70 percent of the people participating in this study also confessed that they get irritated if their partner asks something while using the phone. 90 percent of people believe that the most important way for them to relax is Smartphone. At the same time, 88 percent of the people involved in the survey claimed that the time spent on the phone is a part of their behavior and routine. The reason for this is probably that the people involved in the survey spend an average of 4.7 hours on their smartphones every day. These include figures for both husband and wife. These people spend about 2 hours chatting online.
‘Smartphone weakening relationship with partner’
These figures revealed in the study are worrying but the good thing is that 84 percent want to change their attitude and wish to spend quality time with their better half. 66 percent of the people admitted that their relationship with their partner has weakened due to excessive use of smartphones. This shows that people are aware of the negative impact of excessive use of smartphones in their lives.
‘Smartphone is a part of the body’
But breaking the habit of excessive smartphone use can be challenging. According to the report of this study, smartphone has become an important part of people’s life and 84 percent people say that ‘smartphone is a part of their body and it cannot be separated’.
However, not all technology has disadvantages. 60 per cent of the people surveyed agreed that smartphones are helping them stay connected with their loved ones. 59 per cent admitted that smartphones have increased their knowledge while 58 per cent said that shopping has become easier because of smartphones. 55 percent of the people said that with the help of smartphones, we can get more work done.
