Sushant Singh Rajput Case: Court gives relief to Riya Chakraborty, NCB will not challenge bail granted in drugs case
The NCB will no longer challenge the bail granted to Rhea Chakraborty by the Bombay High Court in cases registered under the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
Riya Chakraborty has been stuck in trouble for a long time in the Sushant Singh Rajput death case. Riya Chakraborty has got relief in the drugs case related to Sushant’s death. Actually NCB will no longer be able to challenge Riya’s bail. The CBI challenged the actress in the court in the drugs case. Regarding this, the Central Government told the Supreme Court on Tuesday that the NCB will no longer challenge the bail granted by the Bombay High Court to Rhea Chakraborty in cases registered under the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS Act).
Regarding this, ASG Raju has said, “We are not challenging the bail granted, but please keep it open for consideration on the interpretation of Section 27A. Let the order not even become a precedent.
Let us tell you that in June 2020, Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead in his Mumbai bungalow. Riya Chakraborty was in a relationship with him at that time. In the investigation, the sword of suspicion was hanging on many people including Riya Chakraborty. The actor’s death case turned into a drugs case and Rhea Chakraborty was found to be an accused in it. After which he was arrested and had to stay in jail for 28 days.
In October 2021, the Bombay High Court granted bail to Riya Chakraborty in this case. The Bombay High Court, while giving the order, had said that giving money to buy drugs does not mean that Riya Chakraborty was involved in any illegal smuggling. Riya was accused of giving drugs to Sushant. Regarding this also, the court had said that giving money for consumption of drugs does not mean that they have encouraged someone to do so.
