The issue of organizing the Asia Cup 2023 will be resolved! Cricket board presidents of 3 neighboring countries will come to watch IPL final

The impasse over the conduct of the Asia Cup may end later this week. The board presidents of Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Sri Lanka cricket will meet BCCI secretary Jay Shah during the IPL 2023 final in Ahmedabad and discuss the future of the high-profile tournament.

The final of the Indian Premier League 2023 (IPL 2023) will be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday. The presidents of Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Sri Lanka Cricket Board will come to watch this match. During this, a decision will be taken on organizing the Asia Cup 2023. This information has been given by Jai Shah, Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and President of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC). There is a tussle between the BCCI and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) regarding the conduct of the Asia Cup.

Meanwhile, Jai Shah said in a statement given to the news agency PTI, “The decision regarding hosting the Asia Cup has not been finalized yet. We are busy with IPL but the top brass of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC), Bangladesh and Afghanistan Cricket Boards are coming to watch IPL finals. We will discuss and take a final decision at the appropriate time.”

Proposal for ‘Hybrid Model’

Pakistan is the host of the Asia Cup this year, but the Indian cricket team cannot travel to the neighboring country without permission from the central government. PCB chairman Najam Sethi proposed a ‘hybrid model’, proposing to organize four matches in his country. Matches are played in Pakistan. India would play all its games at neutral venues.

ACC did not make any formal statement

However, the ACC has not made any formal statement. The two India-Pakistan matches can also be held in Sri Lanka, but the PCB wants them to be held in Dubai. An ACC source told PTI, “ACC chief Jay Shah will call an executive body meeting where a formal announcement will be made. The PCB has no objection to playing India at a neutral venue. He wanted to organize matches in Dubai. However, he has no problem playing in Sri Lanka or any other country as well.”

What is PCB saying about the World Cup

The PCB also says that it will come to India to play the World Cup only after getting approval from the government. It is believed that the BCCI and ICC or the host broadcaster will agree to host the India-Pakistan World Cup match in Bangladesh. The window for this year’s Asia Cup is between September 1-17.
