The result of officer’s examination came in 1998, after 25 years the ‘sealed envelope’ opened in the court, it was found that he had passed the exam

After 25 years, the High Court opened the result of four candidates who applied for the job of Agriculture Officer through the Public Service Commission. Two out of four candidates passed. That is, if the decision had come 25 years ago, two out of four candidates would have become officers.

A unique case was seen in Gujarat. After 25 years, the High Court opened the result of four candidates who applied for the job of Agriculture Officer through the Public Service Commission. Two out of four candidates passed. That is, if the decision had come 25 years ago, two out of four candidates would have become officers. But the late decision was of no use to him, as he is currently in a government job. Secondly, he has reached near his retirement. The High Court in its decision admitted that the time has passed so much that relief cannot be given to both.

According to the case, four candidates had applied to the Gujarat Public Service Commission in 1997 to become Agriculture Officers. At that time the maximum age limit for applying was 30 years. The age of the candidates was above 30. The commission rejected their applications. But all four went to the High Court. Their contention was that their age limit should be considered valid after adding experience. After the interim order of the court, he got a chance to appear in the exam. The result of the exam came in 1998, but the results of all four were withheld.

In 1999, the Public Service Commission changed the recruitment rules

The Public Service Commission said that till 1988 recruitment was done under the District Agricultural Officer Recruitment Rules of 1987. During that time the maximum age limit to apply was 30 years. But in 1999 the rules were changed. After that the maximum age limit for applying was reduced to 35 years. Advocate Shruti Pathak, appearing for the government, told the High Court that now nothing can be done in this matter, because the candidates who have passed are in service. He is posted as Associate Professor. So now the result is useless.

Application was made for permission to offer Namaz in Ramzan, Delhi High Court gave date after four days of ‘last fast’

The age of the two candidates who passed is currently 57 years.

All the four applicants had applied for the exam in 1997. His date of birth was 1965. So he was 32 years old at the time of application. The commission had rejected his application on this basis. At present, the age of the two candidates who have passed is 57 years. While the retirement age under the State Public Service Commission is 58 years. So he is going to retire in a year itself.

High Court said – so much time has passed that now relief cannot be given

Gujarat High Court’s Acting Chief Justice AJ Desai and Justice Biren Vaishnav said in their decision that considering the current employment and age of the candidates, they do not think that there is any need to go to the bottom of the District Agricultural Officer Recruitment Rules of 1987. This would be a useless exercise.
